Over the last few years, mental health issues have emerged as one of the leading causes of disability across the world.
Growing social and economic inequalities, protracted conflicts, violence and public health emergencies threaten progress towards improved well-being, and this growing challenge is further exacerbated by a lack of awareness and understanding of the subject.
According to The World Federation for Mental Health, “The culture of our workplaces needs to support mental health and well-being of the workforce, so that employers are better prepared to support mental health and well-being in the working population”. However, Gi Group Holding India’s research “All in the Mind: The Leadership Factor 2022” shed light on a substantial disconnect between employer and employee perceptions related to the causes and influences of mental health.
The 2022 World Mental Health Day theme, ‘Make Mental Health & Well-Being for All a Global Priority’, provides all of us with an opportunity to reflect on the need to reshape work environments to promote and protect mental health.
At Gi Group Holding, our passionate people are driven by a clear purpose: contribute to the evolution of the Labour Market through our daily work and embrace the ambitious opportunity – and responsibility – to change people’s lives for the better.
Led by our Sustainable Work Manifesto, we perform our activities while protecting human rights and guaranteeing dignified working conditions to the people directly (employees) and indirectly (suppliers and partners) involved. We raise the bar for human rights as related to decent and inclusive work, meritocracy, equity, and well-being.
We protect the most vulnerable workers by promoting greater social security for all, especially women and younger generations.
Furthermore, we undertook a series of measures to support the well-being of our employees on a global level and to increase spending power during the Covid-19 pandemic.
We are indeed aware that the path towards supporting the well-being of the working population is a journey of continuous growth and evolution, and we know that there is much left to do.
To strengthen our commitment to support the development of a sustainable world of work, we rekindled our efforts by establishing the Gi Group Foundation.
Lowering youth unemployment by aiming to effectively engage young people in the world of work and promoting “virtuous” flexibility capable of meeting the needs of companies while also guaranteeing security to people, are at the heart of our Foundation’s activities.
By involving academic, institutional and corporate personalities, the Gi Group Foundation has set in motion a project on Sustainable Work that is aimed at identifying possible actions to promote Sustainable Work and promote a better understanding of this theme among People, Companies, and Society.
By setting up its own Scientific Committee and by instituting an Observatory, our Foundation has kicked off a discussion that will lead to the establishment of tangible, replicable and measurable models that will guide the project towards the development of the concept of Sustainable Work.
