Social commitment - Materiality Matrix
Listen to our stakeholders improving themselves
The Materiality Matrix is a tool used by companies to:
- Recognise the distinctive features of their context
- Understand stakholder expectations in relation to the role the company should play in response to ESG factors
- Identify priorities, develop corresponding strategies and actions
The process
The process is divided in to two parts:
We collected information internally and from institutions to define the topics for inclusion in the matrix. This information helped to create a snapshot of the situation in 2020 along with emerging trends. Using semantic analysis, we were able to identify recurring topics and themes.
Once the topics were identified, we engaged with stakeholders to rank their importance, taking the outcomes to identify our priorities.
For each stakeholder category – both inside and outside the company – we engaged a wide panel of representatives, inviting them to take part in an online survey.
From this we built the matrix, creating two reference axes:
- The company axis, representing the company’s point of view
- The stakeholder axis, represnting feedback froms stakeholders, research and analysis which considered the weighting od topics.
Il risultato di questo processo è rappresentato dalla costruzione dell’ALBERO DEI TEMI 2020.
The output of the Materiality Assessment as a Global Materiality Matrix, reflects our company’s interests and those of our stakeholders around the world.
The topics within the first red square, known as the materiality area, are the material topics and therefore the most important ones for all parties involved. Within the second red square, are those topics that stand out for their importance from the material ones.
